How long will my permanent makeup last?

Results always vary between each individual as well as the implantation skills of the technician performing the procedure. Permanent Cosmetic Pigment is designed to be safely broken down by the body after time. Each persons skin holds and breaks down pigment differently. Most procedures should last any where from 2 to 6 years (some may last shorter or longer). To keep your Permanent Makeup looking is best touch ups are recommended every couple of years to freshen up the color and to prevent fading. Some people may need touch up more often and some may be able to stretch it longer without a touch up. Just remember, if you wait too long and your makeup is mostly faded, the technician will most likely charge to redo the procedure again and it will cost you more than a standard touch up fee.

How much does permanent cosmetics cost?

Permanent cosmetic prices vary between each clinic/salon and technician. Please be aware that each technician/clinic sets their own prices and limitations. For example, some prices include initial touch ups at no extra cost while others may charge. Our price list link is located on the front of our web site and include initial touch ups at no extra cost*. Clinics/Salons often give price breaks when you book more than one procedure. Please note: you should NEVER base your decision on where you have your permanent makeup done on price. Always use careful consideration when choosing a technician to do your permanent makeup. Corrective Permanent Cosmetics and Advanced Permanent Cosmetic Procedure charges average between $150 to $250 per hour. Advanced procedures also know as Para Medical procedures take a specialty trained advance technician and may cost even more when preformed at a Physician Office or Special Clinic.

Are the procedures painful?

No, you should always feel comfortable at all times during the procedure. Permanent Cosmetics Procedures are mostly always done with very good topical anesthetics and in some cases anesthetic blocks (administered by a doctor, dentist or qualified medical professional). You should not feel discomfort but, rather a tickle like feeling. If at any time you feel discomfort speak up and let the technician know so they can numb the area with more topical. If you still in pain the medication may not be working on you, the technician may not be properly numbing you or using proper anesthetic products. It certain cases you may feel the technician using too much force when implanting. This can cause trauma to the skin and scaring. In this case, I would advise you to request the technician stop the procedure immediately.

Is there any down time after the procedure?

No, there is no down time! Slight swelling may occur and the makeup will appear darker for a few days up to a week. But, this will not affect normal activities.

Are Permanent Cosmetics Safe?

Permanent Cosmetics are very safe when a technician follows all the procedures and guidelines correctly. Most permanent cosmetic pigments are FDA approved and especially design for use with permanent makeup procedures. Your technician should always do a small patch test with the pigment prior to the procedure. Remember Micro pigmentation is a skin invasive procedure. It is important to observe the physical location where the procedure will be performed. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has set standards for a clean and sanitary working environment and sterile equipment.

Things to look for:

Most Important Needle used should be clean and sterile for each patient and disposed of properly after each patient. All other things in the procedure area should be sterilized after each patient.
Disposable gloves should always be used for each client and changed during the procedure if needed.
Your technician should be clean neat and knowledgeable of environmental safety requirements.
The procedure chair should be sterilized after each use or clean sheets used after each use.
The room or treatment area should be in an area free from other contaminants as well.

How long does it take to do a procedure?

The initial procedure will take around 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. Please be aware that each technician works at their own pace. Speed does not mean one technician is better than another. A good technician will always take their time to make you look perfect! Follow up procedures usually take about 30 minutes each area.

What if I don't like it?

Remember Although the procedure is considered permanent these procedures do have the flexibility in changing color and shape to some extent depending on the experience of your technician. Colors will appear darker immediately following the procedure, which can take up to a week or longer. If you had a bad procedure done you may need corrective work done by an experienced technician. Some corrections are easy and some are very difficult. There are products that can remove and fade pigment and then skin colored pigment can be used to correct certain areas if needed. Corrections can also be made with the same color used in the intial procedure or color and shape can be changed by going over the area with another color. In certain cases pigment remover is needed before color can be changed. Corrections can be very time consuming and very expensive. They also require an extremely talented and experienced advanced microderma techinician to preform the corrections depending on the severity. This is why we always advise everyone considering permanent cosmetics to use extreme caution when choosing where to have your permanent cosmetics done and never use a cheap price as a decision on where to go.

How do I choose a technician to do my Permanent Makeup Procedure?

One of the most important decisions you make is who will perform your permanent cosmetics. You must never base your decision on price. Use careful consideration when choosing a technician. Make sure you technician informs you of every aspect of the procedure in the consultation and that you feel very comfortable with the person. The technician should be clean and professional looking as well as the area where they perform the procedure. Make sure you also receive references from past clients and ask to see before and after photos of their work. Be cautious, photos can be pulled of the Iternet. You can make sure the photos are their actual clients by looking in the backround of the photos should match areas of the salon. Most technicians will take photos in the same area and photo backrounds will look the same. An experienced technician leaves nothing up to the imagination. In the consultation they will apply regular makeup on you to show you how you will look. They will listen to your likes as well as give you their professional opinion. The day of the procedure they should apply makeup again when you approve the look and shape & color. They will carefully out line the area with surgical marker. This insures the technician has a clear line to follow. If a technician does not follow these steps above or make you feel 100% comfortable that should be your first red flag to choose another technician. One of the best ways to choose a technician is through refferal of a personal friend, neighbor, co-worker whom you have seen and liked what they had done.

*Each permanent cosmetic procedure is a process meaning you need to come back for one to two touch up visits for the color to be just right. All our procedures include one to two touch up after your initial visit. These touch up visits are scheduled 3-7 days after your first procedure. Touch up visits after that are charged at full touch up price.
